When speaking in a non native tongue it’s important to be able to improvise and think of creative ways to explain yourself. Even if you are proficient in a language and have all the vocabulary you’ll ever need… sometimes you have to adjust how you speak for our audience.
This week we will work on simplifying concepts and explaining the same thing to two different people, a child and a professional. You’ll pick the topic you can speak well about, an aspect of your job or profession. Then you’ll explain it two different ways for two different audiences a young child and separately, a professional.
This is exercise is beneficial in many ways, finding simple concepts and metaphors to explain something so a child can grasp, it’s good to share complex information in laymen terms. Explaining the same concept to an adult educated in the field may have its own challenges or may allow for more niche terminology. Watch this example and we will briefly talk about the topic of the video and then we can work on honing your own communication skills.
