Do you like staying up to date (informed) about current events? Here are some ways to do that in English.

Your assignment is to listen to a news story (make sure you listen before reading), then come to class and tell us about it. You have many options to listen to the news. Here are two:

First is the Voice of America Learning English website. You can find news stories in different levels, as well as different things related to learning English expressions and grammar. Take a minute to explore!

For more of a challenge, look at National Public Radio, which is like the BBC or Radio 3, but in the US.

Extra: If you like satire, take a look at The Onion, which is like El Mundo Today. Here’s an example of a fake (false) news story from The Onion:
